Replacement Cable
By James Shook, December 6, 2021
I recently tried to reposition my cable going thru my firewall. In doing so I accidentally cut it near in two. Contacted Hopkins and they sent me out another cable free of charge. I am very pleased with the Smart Hitch Camera on my F350 and will be ordering another for my newly bought Chevy 2500. Thanks
Superior customer service
By Mark Mander, May 16, 2021
Purchased this item and installed on a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Before I installed, I felt I needed some extra cable. I called the customer service department and cable was shipped out and received the next week from the US to Nova Scotia Canada. After installation the features are easily adjusted and although it is a small screen you can clearly see your hitch and trailer hookup. I was told by a technician that hardwiring is best due to the latency with a bluetooth connection. Very pleased with the product however I did notice a small dark blotch on the screen which I determined was coming from the camera (a scratch or something). I could not make it go away and it was distracting. I contacted customer service explained my issue, sent them a photo and my receipt. They not only shipped a new unit out right away but in the box was an apology note for the inconvenience caused too me. I have bought and asked for warranty or service on things many times over my life but never ever have I been treated to good by one company who obviously stand by their products and customers. Many other companies could learn from this. Since then, because of the quality of product and service, I have purchased several other Hopkins products for my trailer. Great people work for them, and they provide superior customer service.
Awesome system!
By Dave Sproul, June 21, 2019
I installed this sytem on our 28' motorhome. Not only does it work great just as a backup camera, but it is awesome for lining up with the hitch on the small trailer we use to haul our motorcycle. No more jumping in/out of the RV and/or repositioning it multiple times to hitch up. Great product and Hopkins supplied the extra long cable I needed for the RV at no extra charge!

Excellant Product and Customer Service
By Ron Book, May 5, 2017
The first unit I bought worked but flashed. Apparently Dodge changed their back up light voltage and I got one of the old units. Called Hopkins and they sent me a replacement right away. I thought great customer service was a thing of the past, Hopkins proved me wrong. New unit works great. I would definitely order from Hopkins again.
Super Tech. support
By Rick, March 7, 2015
Could not get the camera to work so contacted tech support. They asked me to do a couple of tests and then determined I had a faulty connector. Quickly got a replacement, installed and works great, they also provided me with an extension cable at no cost. Excellent customer support!
Just what the doctor ordered
By Keith Hoferman, January 31, 2015
Installed on my 2012 RAM 1500 quad cab, and was able to put the monitor just left of the rearview mirror where you naturally look anyway. Cable was just long enough. I routed it inside the left frame rail, and then up through the emergency brake cable plug. Installation is fiddly, but easy. Not having to cut or splice my stock wires is a huge plus. Monitor is small, but the clarity is very good, and backing up to the trailer is 100 times easier now. Plus having a backup camera and sensors for everyday backing is much better than having none.
It's great and Support is even better
By Gary, January 28, 2015
Got the hitch/backup camera as gift. Cable was a couple feet short. I called and they sent one out that day. Once hooked up it did not change modes. I called support and they sent a new one out with a return label for the old one. It works great. I can't honestly say if I was at fault or the first unit was faulty. Unit works perfect and monitor is big enough, it looked small at first, but, it fits above my center mirror and is fine. It works very well even with backup lights at night. My eyes are not as good as they once were so I did have a problem seeing the small indicator marks for adjusting the sensors and camera at the rear. The unit works great and saves me time hooking up to my trailer and is a real aid for backing up. And I don't think you'll find better support...especially by phone with the shortest hold time going.

Great Camera
By Dan, September 19, 2014
I installed this on my 2004 Dodge Ram. Installation was very easy. I was a little unsure about the screen size but after using it it is great. Highly recommend.
Works great, but issues with mounting to window
By Joe Baker, July 4, 2014
The Camera and monitor work great, I as well needed longer cables and had no issue getting them from Hopkins. The issues I have is the Monitor won't stay attached to the glass. The original sticky pads lasted about two weeks, some aftermarket sticky pads lasted about 3 weeks.
I will call Hopkins to see if they have a solution for this.
Excellent System Package
By Harold, June 20, 2014
After ordering the package, I called Hopkins support and they sent me the extensions required for my truck. I was very pleased with the support staff. I installed this system on my 2008 Dodge 2500 MegaCab in just over an hour. I have a custom rear bumper which extends just short of 10" out from the license plate and I was apprehensive whether it would work or not. This system was so very easy to install and works extremely well. The only reason that I give is 4 stars is that the mounting system of the monitor limited me as to where/how I could mount the monitor in the Dodge cab. Other than that, I wish that I had bought this system a long time ago
Camping World Purchase
By John Heyd, June 12, 2014
Saw the back up camera in the Camping World catalog. Purchased the set up and had them install it for $39 - great deal. Works wonderful on my 2006 F-150 Crew Cab with the 6.5 ft. box. Cable was a little short for a top mount but the guys placed the screen in the lower left corner of the dash which is perfect for my needs. This is a great product and will probably save a few arguments with my wife.
Excellent Camera
By Jim M, February 10, 2014
I just completed a install in less than 1 Hr on my 2010 Ford F150 Crew cab. Just followed the directions and it was extremely easy. I did contact Hopkins Support and the sent me out free of charge 2 extra length of cables. This camera is awesome work great for tow hookup and also great when normal backups. Highly recommend this unit. Install easy for any novice. Lovin it.
Just wired up!
By Brian, November 9, 2013
I got this on sale for a great price. I wired it to a 2013 F-150 Crew Cab 5'5" box. It is amazing that there is nothing to splice and it connects very simply with existing trailer jack. It is a T-adapter that wires between the truck and the connector so both of your trailer pins still work perfectly. I had just enough wire to run the monitor on the driver side dash directly out the firewall and to the rear of the vehicle. If you have a longer vehicle you will probably be short on cable. The monitor comes on when you put the vehicle in reverse and has a great picture on the screen. I had it all wired and adjusted in 1 hour being very picky about wiring and doing it on my back in the driveway! Great product.
Wish these had come out years ago.
By Herman Smith, September 10, 2013
I just installed this on a 10' F-150 crew, it works as good as any factory installed sensor/back up camera system. It took about 30 minutes and it was up and running. Love it!
Perfect for Towing and Everyday Use!!!!!
By John R., July 10, 2013
The camera installation at first scared me because I have a 2013 Ram and Dodge has always had a different wire harness than Chevy or Ford but It was a snap.
The camera and proximity sensors mount like any other license plate bracket so that was really easy.
The supplied Plug connectors is what worried me but I just unplugged the factory plug from vehicle 7 way plug and plugged in the T-Connector which powered the camera and sensors. (no wires for me to cut)
Then I just ran the wires under the truck along the frame until I found an entry way into the cab of the vehicle. I than ran the wire under the trim to up under the dash to an exit point that was close to the camera.
The camera screen is just the right size and being a full color screen helps a lot. The proximity sensors work great to let you know when you are too close to something.
I rate this product 5 out of 5 stars for ease of installation, quality and easy to use.
